Bro. Lonnie Hazard - Philippines

Pray for
Bro. Lonnie Hazard
& Family

I ,Lonnie Hazard, and my wife, Grace, have four children. Our firstborn, Jonathan is 17, our only daughter, Lauren is 14, Josiah is 11, and our youngest, Joseph is seven. I was raised in a Baptist denomination and attended it’s day school from K-12th grade. I professed salvation and was baptized, and did good works, but I was no more saved than my wife, who was born in the Philippines to Roman Catholic parents and who was also baptized, prayed, and did good works. Praise God, however for His grace, mercy, goodness, and forbearance because on March 7,1993, we both left religion behind and received the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
On April 18, 1993, we obeyed the Lord in baptism, and the Lord began calling me to preach as I told my testimony to the congregation on that day. As I served in children’s ministries and on the missions committee, the desire to be a missionary began to grow. In 1995, I was ready to quit working and go to a christian college, but a wise, elderly gentleman counseled me to remain faithfully serving in my local church until the Lord would call me to a work. This same man began to teach me about the King James Bible and how to study and rightly divide the word of truth.
In September 1996, we started attending Blessed Hope Baptist Church, the local bible believing assembly where the Lord sent us out from. My Pastor, Kyle Stephens, started his first three-year bible institute of which I graduated in the spring of 2001. For the next four years, I wrestled against the Lord, because I was determined not to go to the mission field until my children were grown. Nevertheless, through the word of God and a series of God-ordained events, I finally yielded everything to the Lord on May 26th, 2005.
After the Lord prospered our three week survey trip and a relatively short deputation, we left Minnesota, my home state, and arrived on our mission field January 12th, 2008. We have now been serving the Lord here for four years. I can honestly say I have not regretted for one moment my surrender to His calling for salvation or His calling for service, because He is faithful who called.
Some of you that have read this may be thinking I could never do that ... You are right, you cannot, only the Lord can. We are sinners saved by grace and less than ordinary people who serve the living and the only true God.
